Brazil grants humanitarian visa to Ukrainians

The Brazilian government will grant humanitarian visas to Ukrainian refugees. The granting of a temporary visa and a residence permit for the purpose of humanitarian reception to Ukrainian nationals and stateless persons who have been affected or displaced by the situation of armed conflict in Ukraine was defined on March 3, 2022 with the publication of Interministerial Ordinance No. , already in force and valid until August 31, 2022.

To apply for a temporary visa, the applicant must submit the following documents to the Consular Authority:

I – valid travel document;

II – completed visa application form;

III – proof of means of transport entering Brazilian territory; and

IV – certificate of criminal record issued by Ukraine or, in the impossibility of obtaining it, declaration, under the penalties of the law, of absence of criminal record in any country.

The expected period of residence is two years. In the case of a child, adolescent, or any relatively incapable individual, the application for a residence permit may be made by either parent, as well as by a representative or legal assistant, as the case may be, individually or jointly.
